Show/Hide files and folders

Show hidden files and folders

In terminal, type:
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles YES

Hide hidden files and folders

    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles NO

Make user's Library unhidden (for Mavericks & later)

    chflags nohidden ~/Library/
